Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization and ministry started in 1976. Actually Habitat welcomes to its work people of all faiths. They build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with low income families who lack adequate shelter. Did you know there are more than 1.5 billion people worldwide who lack decent, affordable housing? Habitat utilizes volunteers who donate their time as well as merchants and businesses that donate materials. Habitat has built more than 50,000 houses with families throughout the United States and another 100,000-plus houses in communities around the world. RT Multimedia staff have been involved with volunteering time for 4 years now and the satisfaction received from helping to give families a home they would otherwise not have is truly exhilarating to the soul.
The Habitat houses are purchased by the homeowner families. Three factors make the houses affordable to low-income people worldwide:
- Houses are sold at no profit, with no interest charged on the mortgage
- Homeowners and volunteers build the houses under trained supervision
- Individuals, corporations, faith groups and others provide financial support
Homeowner families are chosen according to their need; their ability to repay the no-profit, no-interest mortgage; and their willingness to work in partnership with Habitat. Habitat for Humanity does not discriminate according to race, religion or ethnic group.
We encourage everyone to donate their time at the very least to help this very worthy cause. You will surely be blessed. To learn more visit their site Click Here.
